허욱(b. 1973~)는 파리 국립미술학교 순수미술학과 졸업 후 ‘더하고 더하다'라는 의미의 '첨첨(添添)’ 시리즈를 통해 독창적인 조형 언어를 탐구해 왔다. 직선과 곡선, 경계가 뚜렷한 면들이 캔버스를 리드미컬하게 가로지르고 섬세하고 감각적인 색을 대담한 패턴의 구성으로 캔버스를 채운다.
한국을 비롯해 뉴욕, 런던, 시드니, 북경 등 여러 해외 도시에서 주목받고 있으며, 국립현대미술관과의 공공미술 프로젝트, 싱글 몰트 위스키 브랜드인 맥캘란, 친환경 브랜드 IWP(I WAS PLASTIC)와의 컬래버레이션을 통해 건축적 요소가 돋보이는 회화 작품을 선보이며 다양한 방식으로 예술 활동을 확장하고 있다.
Heo Wook (b. 1973~) graduated from the Department of Fine Arts at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris and has been exploring a distinctive visual language through his series Cheom Cheom (添添), which translates to 'to add and add again'. Straight and curved lines, along with clearly defined surfaces, rhythmically traverse the canvas, filling it with delicate and sensory colors arranged in bold patterns.
He has garnered attention in major cities worldwide, including Seoul, New York, London, Sydney, and Beijing. He has also expanded his artistic practice through diverse collaborations, including public art projects with the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art Korea, partnerships with the single malt whisky brand Macallan, and collaborations with the eco-friendly brand IWP (I WAS PLASTIC), highlighting architectural elements in his paintings and broadening his creative expression.
