■ 출품작 소개
이번 전시에 선보이는 작품들은 기능적 사용을 넘어서는 오브제로 제작되었습니다. 전통적 재료를 기반으로 하고 있지만, 공예 본래의 목적에 속박되지 않으며 동시대적 맥락 안에서 형태와 인식의 새로운 가능성을 탐구합니다. 익숙한 재료를 낯선 방식으로 경험하게 함으로써, 공예·조각·개념적 표현의 경계를 질문하고 확장하고자 합니다.
■ 갤러리 컨셉
갤러리 콜론비(서울)와 양화랑 / Hitsuji Garo(니가타)는 2019년부터 한·일 양국의 작가를 소개하는 공동 전시를 꾸준히 기획해 왔습니다. 이번 전시는 전통적 재료를 기반으로 하면서도 실용성을 초월하는 동시대 공예에 초점을 맞춥니다. 두 갤러리는 이 작업들을 통해 한국과 일본의 공예에서 형식과 감성의 교차 지점을 탐색하며, 동시대 공예가 될 수 있는 표현의 확장된 해석과 새로운 시각을 제시하는 것을 목표로 합니다.

About exhibited works
The works presented in this exhibition are crafted as objects beyond functional use. While rooted in traditional materials, they are not bound by the conventional purpose of craft. Instead, they explore new possibilities in form and perception within a contemporary context. These pieces aim to question and expand the boundaries between craft, sculpture, and conceptual expression, offering viewers an opportunity to engage with familiar materials in unfamiliar ways.
Gallery concept
Gallery ColonB (Seoul) and Hitsuji Garo (Niigata) have been co-curated exhibitions since 2019 to introduce artists from Korea and Japan. This exhibition focuses on contemporary craft that transcends utility while remaining grounded in traditional materials. Through these works, the two galleries seek to explore the intersection of form and sensibility in Korean and Japanese craft, aiming to offer new perspectives and expanded interpretations of what contemporary craft can be.
