I was fascinated by the Abelam ethnic masks I saw at an exhibition.
This led me to research ethnic masks in Africa and Papua New Guinea, and I came to know the idea of animism. Since then, I have been creating works with animism as my main theme.
I use crochet as my technique.
The techniques of plastic arts and sculpture are created in such a way that there is first a rough mass and then the resolution of that mass is increased.
On the other hand, the three-dimensional modeling by knitting is a method in which the shape gradually expands from the edges.
The form does not exist until the yarn is knitted. I work with the image of giving form to an invisible existence and making it manifest.
